Clans & Player Killing

Player killing is opt-in and irreversible. PK has its own Elo ladder and bounties. Clan rivalries matter too; in v3.1, revenge can open a player-built hall to raiders.

Going PK

  • Type pk twice between levels 6 and 25 to join the Squire pool permanently. In v3.1 the command is pkill yes, with the same level-25 deadline. Tier 3 characters can never opt in.
  • loner makes you an independent PKer; from there you can petition a PK clan, whose Vice-Leader or Leader accepts or rejects you. Exiled PK players become Outcasts.
  • Both sides must be PK and within 10 levels. Tier 1 and tier 3 characters can never fight each other. In ROT 1.5b1, your Elo ratings must also be within 100 points.
  • New PKers carry a newbie flag and can only fight other newbies until their rating proves otherwise.
  • In v3.1, you cannot kill the same player twice within an hour unless they or their clan come back for revenge. Revenge also opens the killer's clan hall to the victim's clan.
  • bounty <player> <platinum> puts money on a PK head. The minimum is 50 platinum, and the killer collects.
  • With subdue mode you can leave an opponent mortally wounded instead of dead. You can still decapitate them afterward, if mercy has left the building.

A real Elo ladder

Every PKer has two ratings, prank (open-world PK) and arank (arena), both starting at 1500. Ratings work much like chess Elo, with larger swings when tier and level gaps make a result surprising. rank shows the ladder and your odds against any named rival. Losing to a nobody costs you dearly; beating a champion pays.

What a clan gives you

  • Eight ranks: Member, Recruit, Soldier, Lieutenant, Commander, Elite, Vice-Leader, and Leader. Officers manage them with promote, demote, and exile.
  • Up to six clan skills, granted automatically at 75% learned as you pass levels 10 through 60. ROT 1.5b1 examples include Blackmere's target, Blackrose's recall and cripple, and Alliance's fires.
  • A clan recall room, a death-transfer room for your corpse, a private channel (=), a roster, and a donation pit (cdonate).
  • Some clans pair up as co-clans. In ROT 1.5b1, Mascots pairs with Valor, Feral with Chosen, and Outlaw with Dominion.
