Banks and bank robbery

• Four named banks keep their own business hours: First National Bank of Midgard, Solace Federal Reserve, New Thalos Savings and Trust, and a fourth that varies by realm. ROT 1.5b1 has Aerial City Credit Union. DI and v3.1 have The Mercenary's Vault, which stays open around the clock in DI.
• Deposits and withdrawals come in multiples of 50 platinum. ROT 1.5b1 caps a balance at 10,000 platinum and charges a 4% withdrawal fee. DI caps balances at 250,000 with a 2% fee. v3.1 keeps a separate balance at each branch and has no practical limit.
• The rob command is real: steal another player's passbook, present it at their bank during business hours, and drain the recorded balance. Fail the password and the bank yells THIEF across the room. Compromised accounts get forcibly re-keyed.

The auction house

ROT 1.5b1 runs the classic single-lot auction channel: one item at a time, each bid at least10% over the last. Your coin stays in escrow while the auction calls "going once… going twice… SOLD." Distorted Illusions and v3.1 use a multi-lot ticketed auction house with simultaneous listings in a table, bids per ticket, and in v3.1 you can bid in gold, platinum, or quest points. You cannot reroll your character while you hold an active auction stake. The game has seen people try.

Slot machines

Norse-themed slots stand in the casino and, in v3.1, can be bought for clan halls. Three reels show the gods, with Aegir the rarest at 1-in-49 per reel and Jord the most common. Two of a kind pays proportional to rarity; three of a kind hits the machine's progressive jackpot, which grows with every losing bet up to ten million silver. The maximum bet is 100,000 silver. DI also has an old joke: a player named Callin always rolls triple Aegir.

The stock market (Distorted Illusions)

In DI, use stock list, stock buy, or stock sell at the stockman. Shares trade in lots of five, with prices in platinum. Tickers include Bree Inc., Fesdor Unlimited, Distorted Illusions of Grandeur, Asgardian Pharmaceuticals, and Bob's Babbles. Clan stocks also trade on the fortunes of Aesir, Conquest, Kyuubi, Enforcer, and Audentia. The market re-rolls every 500 seconds with surges, crashes, and genuine bankruptcies that wipe out every share in every player's inventory. The market is unavailable in v3.1.

Player housing (Distorted Illusions)

See an Architect and pay 100,000 gold for a private five-room home. Rename rooms (hname, 500 gold), redecorate (hdesc), teleport home (home), and control the guest list (invite / boot). Furnish it from a catalog of up to five objects and five servants. Selling refunds half the base price plus the value of the contents.

Paid travel

Summoners sell instant teleportation. Use travel list, then travel buy. ROT 1.5b1 fares run from 50 gold (Ofcol, Shadow Grove) through 300 (Githyanki Keep); DI and v3.1 stretch the map to luxury fares: 7,500 for Black Water Park, 9,000 for Troy, and 10,000 for Kingdoms. Pets ride free.
